CATS '83, Curry Amateur Theatrical Society
CATS ’83 celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. Almost fifty productions have been performed on the North Curry Village Hall stage by the talented and enthusiastic membership over past years. We are always looking for new blood (preferably younger!) to carry us through to new heights! In order to stage a show we need not only performers to act on stage but teams to help behind the scenes. Members can choose to direct, produce, work as stage crew, make scenery, apply make-up, sew costumes, operate sound and lighting equipment, design posters and programmes or be responsible for publicising our events and many other backstage and front of house roles. No previous experience is necessary – there are plenty of people to guide and support – it is great fun and a great leisure activity. If you are interested in joining us talk to Mike Wolfman, Joanne Preston, Nick Slocombe, Kathy Davidson, Susie Hughes or Sandra Mead-Hoyle; committee members. Many thanks go to all of them, who over the past two years have overseen a number of activities including Take Art Performances, Play Readings, a Karaoke evening, and the Anniversary Barbecue. CATS’83 was founded by Terry Sidley who is now our president and who still plays a major role in organising and advising us. He is planning to direct a play in the New Year, so why not get involved and volunteer to help with that production. A theatre visit is also planned and ideas are being formed for future productions and maybe a pantomime. We are casting for a production to be performed in March 2009 and are looking for new actors to join us. We have several plays in mind but which one we perform depends on the response we get from you. So, if your young, old, male, female or somewhere in between why not give us a call and tread some new boards. To make it the best we can we need to cast by Monday 8th December 2008.
